Wear is She Wednesday: Adriana Ferreira

Adriana Ferreira doesn't let little things like 4 hour long commutes or language barriers stand between her and her dreams. She's multi-passionate, multi-talented and draws upon this same bold sense experimentation in her personal style. She's quite the inspiration, so keep reading for her thoughts on Portugal, Depop and keeping an open mind.

Hi Adriana, Please introduce your wonderful self!

Hey, I’m Adriana Ferreira! I’m from Portugal and I’m currently doing an Audiovisual and Multimedia’s degree in Lisbon. It’s been a great adventure, especially because I spend 4 hours on public transport to go back and forth every day. I’m the kind of girl who gets into everything. I’ve done theater, swim competition, played guitar, and currently work as a designer in a junior company. And [along the way], fashion has always been with me.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

I don’t have a defined style, I wear a bit of everything. I have a lot of clothes, but I always have that crisis of thinking that I don’t have anything to wear, and when that happens, I dig in my mom’s closet and her old clothes. Over 85% of my clothes are second hand clothes and half of them were given to me, so I never had much choice. This forced me to make bold and creative combinations. I've heard many comments over the years, some more negative than others, I even tried to dress more like most Portuguese girls do, but I don’t feel like myself or confident.

So, I think the words that describe my style are, different, creative and bold.

Who or what are your current biggest style inspirations?

I’m not much of a trend follower when it comes to buying more clothes so when I have a similar piece that is trending, I try to adapt the outfit. I usually research a lot on Pinterest and get inspired by my friends, but right now I love following some content creators like @bysofiaoliveira, @jennaphipps, @sophiamolen and @viihrocha.

What does personal style mean to you?

Personal style is everything, I’ve learned over time that it’s okay not to restrict yourself to a single style or genre of clothing. It’s important to keep an open and creative mind, because it allows us to express ourselves, to show the world who we are, or even who we want to be. We inspire and are inspired by those around us, not only on socia media, but by the people we socialize and pass us by on the streets.

What's on your wishlist right now?

A lot of my clothing has different patterns or shapes, and I feel that I need the basics. So, on my wishlist are: a pair of combat boots, a black leather jacket, a simple white sweatshirt and lots of accessories to complete the outfits.

Who would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

There are so many people I would like to meet, but maybe Dove Cameron or Leonie Hanne. I would love to hear more about their journey and who their inspirations are.

What's something you're really proud of right now?

I’m a shy person, and for a few years now, I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone, to be more communicative and enterprising. Because of this, I joined the theater and I am currently at a university of social communication, which challenges me to be better every day. I used to have a blog that is currently inactive, but in the future I plan to create more content for my social media and maybe even start my Youtube channel. I think I’m on a good journey and I’m really proud of myself.
